RADVISION Launches First iPad App For Video Conferencing

Radvision, technology and provider for unified visual communications, just announced the SCOPIA Control, the first iPad application for control of video conferencing room systems.

The iPad had the opportunity to be the ultimate business video conferencing tool. Its small enough to carry it around, but large enough for reading shared documents on screen and have a couple of people joining in on the action.However, the lack of front-mounted camera means video conferencing like this is out of the question (Although front-facing camera, zoom, flash and video conferencing might appear on second generation iPhone).

However, Radvision is not using the iPad App for video conference but as a controller. SCOPIA Control for the SCOPIA XT1000 HD room system provides a user interface for the recently introduced SCOPIA XT1000 HD video conferencing room system. With the application users can initiate calls, control their video conferencing systems and moderate meetings supported by the iPad’s large screen, Multi-Touch user interface and wireless capability.


Another benefit for the user in utilizing the iPad is enjoying a cost effective control application that does not require an expensive, proprietary device. With the iPad form factor being completely wireless.

The application provides the following features:

* Join Meetings: the user can join meetings from the integrated conference room calendar with a single click.
* Invite Other Participants: users can easily add additional participants to a meeting by accessing a corporate directory.
* Sync with SCOPIA XT1000 Room System Control: mute microphones, select video sources, control near-end and far-end PTZ cameras and start presenting.
* Meeting Moderation: users can moderate meetings easily through the meeting participants list, mute the microphones of other participants, stop their cameras or even disconnect other participants.
* Advanced Data Collaboration : view presentations, spreadsheets, documents and images shared in a video conference with H.239 interoperable data collaboration.

LifeSize system software upgrade, version 4.7

LifeSize has made HD data sharing available for remote desktops and small conference rooms. The newest version of the LifeSize system software, Version 4.7, lets organizations share information such as presentations and spreadsheets over the network using the LifeSize Passport system and the recently announced integrated video conferencing system called LGExecutive, powered by LifeSize.
The Version 4.7 software also enables LifeSize Passport and LGExecutive, powered by LifeSize, to stream live HD Video and record, via the LifeSize Video Center.
